Brentwood Borough Renaissance Group was delighted to support the annual Christmas Window Competition this December. Eighteen shops entered and judging was carried out by the Mayor, Cllr Vicky Davies, Alan Jefcoate of the Federation of Small Businesses and Vice Chair of the Brentwood Borough Renaissance Group, and Elaine Richardson, Town Centre Development Co-ordinator for Brentwood Borough Council.
The winner for Brentwood was Bennetts Funeral Directors for their window commemorating the Great War Christmas truce.
Runner up for Brentwood was Neil Graham Interiors for its ‘Winter Wonderland’ display designed by Gavin Knowles.
The winner for Shenfield was Barnardo’s ‘Gingerbread Man’ display. Runner up was Mr Simms Sweet Shop’s traditional Christmas display.
The window displays were judged according to the entrants’ use of materials, colour, lights and overall impact.
Alan Jefcoate, vice-chairman of the Renaissance Group, said: “The results for the winners were actually unanimous between the judging parties, with Brentwood receiving the same results from all parties.”
The competition was designed to promote businesses in the area and increase their footfall during November and December.
The winning businesses received a certificate and a bottle of wine to enjoy at their Christmas party.
