Artists and local arts groups who want to get involved in a new creative space in the centre of Brentwood are being asked to register their interest.
Brentwood Borough Council is developing some affordable artists’ studios in a shop unit in the Baytree Centre in partnership with Essex County Council and arts organisation and charity the Association for Cultural Advancement through Visual Art (ACAVA)
The scheme will include around eight individual studios as well as a flexible exhibition, community and a workshop space. They are anticipated to be available for two years.
The Council is now seeking a variety of artists, from designers and sculptors to fine artists, and local art groups who are interested in the project to register their details for the next stage of the project.
Brentwood Borough Council’s Chair of the Business and Town Centres Committee, Councillor David Kendall, said:
“This is an exciting opportunity for Brentwood and will be a central, affordable place for artists to work and show their pieces. I look forward to it being developed and becoming a real creative hub for local people.”
Interested parties will be invited to come along to an informal consultation morning on Saturday 7 February (further details to be confirmed), where they can speak with the artistic director of ACAVA about how they work and what their needs are so the project can be developed further. If you are interested you can register your details by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling Lucy on 01277 312645.
